You Dirty Little Keyboard:

As you can see from the picture this is quite a bulky keyboard. The inner section, which holds the key, is the size of a normal keyboard. The bottom portion, which extends to the right scroll wheel and surrounding buttons, also acts as a wrist wrest. It, however, is not detachable. The top buttons rest on a wavy extension adding to the height of the keyboard.

The bottom of the keyboard is plastered with a warning label saying that you might die from this keyboard if you use it too much.  The certified microsoft sticker is to the right and houses all of the serial number information in case you need it for tech support.

Here are the components that make up the keyboard.  On the far left is the scrollbar covering / wrist rest.  Next to that is the scroll wheel which can be removed and modified if you'd like (nothing like a bright orange scroll wheel to complement your modded case ;)  On the right is the base and to the right of that is the key housing.

You can easily remove the faceplates of the keyboard with a philips head screwdriver although some of the screws are hidden on the top. There are about 15 screws in all and there is no "anti-tampering" sticker that would alert the boys at Microsoft that you have voided your warranty.

The keyboard is definitely well designed.  The components are of a higher quality than your average keyboard.  The underbelly of the keyboard is very reminiscent of a motherboard's PCB. Possibly so Microsoft can monitor your keystrokes ;)  All kidding aside the keyboard has plenty of room for some modding if that is your cup of tea.

This is the right side of the exposed keyboard.  Those round black holes are where you screw the faceplates into the keyboard from the bottom. The LED's can be swapped out with some effort and replaced with something more suitable than green.

Most keyboards have a base and detachable keys. The Microsoft Office Keyboard has a base, a detachable key faceplate and the detachable keys.  The keys pop out like most keyboards for easy cleaning and maintenance.  The overall feel of the keys when typing is the best that I've ever felt.

Here are some close-ups of the keyboard's scroll wheel and surrounding buttons. The plastic that holds the scroll wheel is easily removed and replaced. The circuit board beneath the scroll mouse is not securely fastened and can easily be removed. So be careful when opening the keyboard.
